Arrangements for French Horn
I try to find things that are fun to play and make the Horn sound good.
The horn has a huge range, so I used it all in the Bartók arrangement.
The resonating harmonics of the low notes give the illusion of an accompaniment
On Rhapsody for Unaccompanied Horn
This Rhapsody, number 40/ 41 of the Slovak Melodies for Children, is based on two songs Hey, Blow You Summer Wind and Hey, What a Beautiful House.
Bartók skillfully meshed them to create a composition for piano, and I have arranged the piece for solo Horn, with the idea that frequently the songs were collected unaccompanied, so playing them solo is a kind of return to their source.
